Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgical Program

Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgical Program

HFH fulfills its goal to provide quality health care, medical education and equipment to under-served areas through its Medical Mission Initiatives. HFH helps build clinics and hospitals by collaborating with hospitals and medical supply businesses in medically-advanced countries, international donors, and local authorities. We

After five years of planning – in 2014 – HFH began its Cardiothoracic Surgical Initiative (CTSI) in Nigeria. This initiative was created for the following three primary reasons: 1. The clear need for cardiothoracic surgery among a variety of Nigeria’s population for a wide variety of congenital and heart disease treatments; 2. The clear need for a Pediatric and Adult international accredited CT surgical training program including all its supporting specialties and ancillary staff (ie perfusionist) 3. The experience and research-based belief that a critical component to Nigeria’s healthy and prosperous future is to stop the out-of-country flow of revenue resulting from medical tourism.

HFH recognizes that it would be highly beneficial to have in county care to Nigerians. Currently, Nigeria spends approximately 20% of its entire health budget on medical tourism with a significant amount of that funding being spent on heart surgeries. The objective is to complete 200 pediatric open heart surgical cases within a year free trials of cialis (June 2015 – July 2016) (including ICU management and Step down medical support.)

This program will be more than just temporary solution to healthcare in Nigeria. Instead, it will be a sustainable program that can be maintained in Nigeria. Throughout this CTSI, HFH will ensure that Nigerian medical staff receive necessary skills and knowledge to facilitate surgeries on their own. This will be done by training and walking Nigerian medical staff through the surgeries from the beginning stage until step down and aftercare.

We have already began working towards our goal. pharmacy In August 2015, HFH completed its 3rd solely pediatric cardiothoracic initiative at National Hospital in Abuja. We diagnosed, surgically/medically treated and discharged six patients with various congenital heart diseases. To date, HFH has completed 25 successful surgeries (which includes a prior programs conducted at Garki General Hospital).
