Our Vision & Mission

To maximize positive health outcomes and decrease barriers to healthcare, especially for people living in resource-constrained environments in Africa.

We envision a world where access to healthcare is universal, regardless of one’s socioeconomic status or geographic location. We strive to break down barriers to healthcare through a variety of effective, high-impact, contextually appropriate programs, particularly for those living in resource-constrained environments, ensuring that every individual has the opportunity to lead a healthy and fulfilling life.

Through time-limited Public Health Initiatives, we provide immediate strategic and technical medical support to those in greatest need, while using lessons learned during this initial phase to assess the need for the construction of healthcare facilities and training of personnel to lay the foundations for lasting infrastructure that pave the way for sustainable improvement in global health care delivery.

Hospitals for Humanity operates on a five-step collaborative model, designed to empower local communities and build sustainable healthcare infrastructure:

Step 1

We identify local leaders to facilitate both short-term interventions and long-term program outcomes, ensuring community ownership and sustainability.

Step 2

Through comprehensive health assessments, we gain insight into the specific needs of the communities we serve, allowing us to tailor our interventions effectively.

Step 3

Our global partners join us in providing strategic medical support and training to local healthcare professionals, addressing immediate needs while building long-term capacity.

Step 4

We address pre-existing conditions and chronic healthcare needs within targeted regions, implementing specialized programs tailored to community requirements.

Step 5

From ophthalmology to infectious disease control to cardiothoracic surgery, we introduce initiatives that meet the unique needs of each community, paving the way for lasting health improvements.

Our values

  • Compassion: We approach each patient with empathy and understanding, recognizing the importance of holistic care in healing.
  • Excellence: We are committed to delivering the highest quality of medical services, adhering to international standards of excellence in every aspect of our work.
  • Collaboration: We believe in the power of partnership, working closely with local communities, pediatric cardiothoracic professionals, and global partners to maximize our impact and create sustainable change.
  • Integrity: We conduct ourselves with honesty, transparency, and integrity, ensuring that our actions always align with our mission and values.

Since our inception, Hospitals for Humanity has conducted various time-limited medical initiatives across Nigeria, Senegal, Haiti, Afghanistan, and the Philippines.

Our initiatives encompass a wide range of medical services, including cardiothoracic surgery, ophthalmology procedures, hernia and breast cancer surgeries, Ebola training, and diabetes and hypertension education.

Hospitals For Humanity has specifically worked in Nigeria on the following health care system initiatives:

Rivers State

In Rivers State, we conducted comprehensive training programs for local medical practitioners, equipping them with the skills and expertise needed to perform cataract and glaucoma surgeries.

By investing in the professional development of local healthcare professionals, we ensure sustainable healthcare delivery within the community.

Anambra State

In Anambra State, we took proactive steps to enhance the primary healthcare system, recognizing its pivotal role in preventive care and early intervention.

Through strategic interventions and capacity-building initiatives, we fostered a robust healthcare infrastructure that prioritizes community well-being and preventive healthcare practices.

Kogi State

In Isanlu, Kogi State, we spearheaded efforts to establish a permanent medical facility and devised an innovative insurance plan tailored to the needs of the local residents.

By making healthcare more affordable and accessible, we strive to eliminate financial barriers and ensure that every individual can access the care they need when they need it most.

Ebola Crisis

Amidst the Ebola crisis, we demonstrated our commitment to public health by conducting extensive training programs for over three thousand medical personnel in River State.

Through rigorous preparedness initiatives and capacity-building efforts, we equipped healthcare workers with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively respond to infectious disease outbreaks, safeguarding communities against future health threats.

Congenital heart defects account for a substantial proportion of infant mortality, with untreated cases often leading to severe complications and premature death.

Recognizing the importance of early detection and intervention, we screened over 1500 children in Nigeria for congenital heart defects. Through early diagnosis and timely medical interventions, we aim to mitigate the impact of congenital heart conditions, ensuring that children receive the life-saving care they deserve.

We performed Pediatric Cardiothoracic (open heart) surgeries and Cardiac Catheterizations on seventy patients, achieving an impressive 96% success rate in care and management. Our surgical interventions not only save lives but also improve the standards of cardiac care in Nigeria, demonstrating that world-class healthcare is within reach, even in resource-constrained settings.

Through each surgical procedure, we contribute to the capacity-building efforts of local Nigerian hospitals, empowering healthcare institutions to deliver high-quality care independently. By transferring knowledge, skills, and resources, we lay the groundwork for sustainable healthcare development, one surgical procedure at a time.
