Sponsor A Surgery

By sponsoring a surgery, you make a profound difference in a young life, offering hope and health where it is desperately needed. Your support ensures that these children suffering from CHD receive essential medical treatments and surgeries that can change their futures forever.

For $5,500, you can cover the entire cost of one of these life-saving open-heart surgeries for a child with a congenital heart defect.

Here's What Happens When You Choose To Sponsor a Child

Step 1: Selection and Matching
  • Donation Commitment: Once you commit to sponsoring a surgery with a $5,500 donation, HFH will match you with a child in need from our waiting list of over 1,500 children diagnosed with congenital heart defects.
Step 2: Pre-Surgical Evaluation
  • Comprehensive Medical Assessment: The sponsored child undergoes a thorough pre-surgical evaluation, including blood tests, imaging studies, and consultations with cardiologists.
  • Family Counseling: The child’s family receives counseling on the surgical process, potential risks, benefits, and postoperative care requirements.
Step 3: Surgical Preparation and Intervention
  • Medical Team Assembly: HFH assembles a skilled medical team, including pediatric cardiothoracic surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and support staff, often with international experts collaborating with local professionals.
  • Preoperative Preparation: The child is admitted to the hospital for preoperative preparation, ensuring they are ready for surgery.
  • Surgery: The child undergoes the life-saving heart surgery, with a 96% success rate, tailored to their specific condition.
Step 4: Postoperative Care
  • Intensive Care: After surgery, the child is moved to the intensive care unit (ICU) for close monitoring and care by the ICU team.
  • Recovery Support: HFH provides comprehensive follow-up care, including regular check-ups, medication management, and rehabilitation services to support the child's recovery and long-term health.
  • Family Education: The family receives ongoing support and education on caring for the child post-surgery, recognizing signs of complications, and the importance of follow-up appointments.
Step 5: Communication and Updates
  • Sponsorship Updates: You will receive regular updates on our team's progress, including recovery milestones and any additional care they receive.
Step 6: Capacity Building and Sustainability
  • Training Local Professionals: HFH conducts training sessions for local healthcare professionals during the medical program, enhancing their skills in pediatric cardiothoracic surgery, postoperative care, and patient management.
  • Infrastructure Support: Your sponsorship also contributes to the development of sustainable healthcare infrastructure, ensuring ongoing local capacity for pediatric cardiothoracic care.
Step 7: Final Report and Gratitude
  • Detailed Report: At the conclusion of the surgery and recovery, you will receive a detailed report on the impact of your sponsorship, and the program’s overall success.
  • Certificate of Appreciation: HFH will send you a certificate of appreciation, acknowledging your generous contribution and its life-changing impact.
